Our Common Concern
NPC Blog Highlights Progressive Causes
According to founder and blogger Jared Milrad, Our Common Concern is a socially conscious blog rooted in the simple belief that “our greatest resource is each other.” Milrad, a staff member at the World Society for the Protection of Animals, a NonProfit Center tenant organization, started the blog in 2007.
The blog is now (as of April 2008) integrated into the center community and will feature the work of tenant organizations as well as progressive issues.
Focus on What Unites Nonprofits
The blog is based on the premise that particularly among those working for progressive social change, there is more that unites us than drives us apart. “Third Sector New England’s NonProfit Center, where dozens of organizations work to create a more just, sustainable and humane future,” states Milrad, “serves as a perfect new home for the blog.”
In addition to highlighting the work of center tenants like Roots & Shoots and Boston After School & Beyond several times per month, the blog will provide news updates about progressive causes around the world. Topics will include human rights, the environment and animal advocacy and will be a one-stop shop for anyone interested in a unified social movement for change.
Our Common Concern is currently highlighting the work of Easter Seals Massachusetts, a leading service provider to children and adults with disabilities.
